Ive been dyeing up and playing with silk cocoons! Gorgeous little creatures to make jewelry or add to mixed media. I think they would make great dangles for bookmarks actually!
This little fellow above has been beaded and embroidered with embroidery floss and metallic gold thread then glass beads added.
The trick to these tough little suckers are to pop holes in them first with a needle (you can see some spare holes in the cocoon.) Then embroider to your heart content. I threaded some extra lengths of thread through the top to dangle from the bottom.
It looks a bit like a sea creature to me! But I have seen some beautiful jewelry made from them on Etsy!
If you would like to have a play yourselves, I have been creating some mixed packs with silk rods. Imagine the possibilities!
