I had finished a blue neck scarf using superfine merino wool and baby Leicester curls and decided as it was a short scarf it would need a brooch to hold it closed.
I already had in mind to use some of my silk carrier rods as a base.
I separated the rods into fine layers, spritzed them with water then ironed them between baking paper to make a sheet of woven paper. I threw in some Angelina fibers for a bit of glitz.
I then drew up a little house template on card and traced it onto some commercial felt.
The silk paper was then cut out and pinned to the base. At this point I decided there was not enough glitz happening ( a girl can never have enough!) and placed a cut out piece of angelina fiber sheet over which I then machine sewed in place.
This was then cut out to reveal the silk underneath. It was then time to play with beads. Some were sewn into the frame and I had some bead fringe in my stash which just seem to work.
So here she is, my little secret house.
