I am playing with wool painting at the moment. And I don't know why I haven't started it earlier! I love painting and I love textiles so the combination is so much fun!

I have always had a leaning to flowers, so a bouquet of my dad's roses seem to cry out to be reproduced with wool.
The process is the same as wet felting, but keep the theory of acrylic painting in mind a far as tonal values and placing darks and lights.
After laying the wool down adding bits of silk and angelina, I have then wet felted the piece. The painting is felted but not fully fulled to retain a softness in the surface. After it dried and was ironed, have then gone in with needle felting to add highlights, shades and tidy up edges.

I have then started playing with the sewing machine to machine embroider, then finish with hand embroidery.
