I dropped into one of our local op shops and found this.
A very sexy 2 piece outfit. I'm not sure what the fabric is, but it is stretch with gold thread woven through. I was sure I could do something wonderful with this. Not only that but it was only $3.00 on sale!
I was thinking nuno felting of course! Where wool fiber is felted to either silk or an open weave fabric to create something different.
I lay down the cut up fabric over two layers of white merino, then completed the felting process as per normal.
I forgot to take a pic when the nuno felted fabric was dry, sorry about that. But then I was left with a nice length to play with.
Forgetting that bag/purse making and I are probably not meant to happen, I decided on a clutch.
The fabric become lovely and crinkled when the wool shrank during the felting process and I decided to accentuate the bands with some satin stitch on the machine.
I am not a particularly patient kind of person so creating bags (with linings) give me a nervous tic in my eye when I think of them! Hence I had 'issues' with the silk satin lining in this little clutch and I have decided I will keep it myself for jewelry.
I'm busy felting up a storm for my up-coming exhibition next month. So you will have to forgive me if my visits are a little sparing for a while.
